With the advances when it comes to beauty products nowadays, there are now lots of techniques and methods that once can choose from when he/she wants to reduce the appearance of acne scars.
One of these methods is the silicone strips. These silicone strips are considered to be very effective in the reduction of the appearance of the scars as long as one is able to understand truly well on how to use it properly.
Inability to follow the steps on applying silicone strips well may result in the non-effectiveness of the strips.
- Before Applying
Before applying the silicone strip on your face, it is important to wash thoroughly the skin area where you want to put the strip.
Then you pat dry the area and also save around the skin area whenever there is hair present. Make sure to avoid shaving off the scar since this might irritate it. Wash after shaving and leave the area for 10-15 minutes for it to dry.
- Choose the Right Strip Size
Before applying the strip, first measure the size of your scar. It is advised that you put an allowance of a half inch on the strip to ensure full coverage of the scar.
Cut out the strips using a clean scissors. Do not throw away the plastic piece that came together with the strip, it will be helpful later on.
- Applying the Strip
Once you have done the steps above, the next step is to apply the strip. Make sure that you apply it on a dry clean skin and that no bubbles is seen during application thus you have to smooth the strip well.
Also make sure that you have covered the acne scar fully. To ensure the effectiveness of the strip, always make sure that there are no air bubbles that might come in.
- Showering
There are two options that you may do whenever you want to shower if you had already applied your strip.
You can take a shower while your strip on but just make sure that you don’t touch it too much making it fall off.
Another option would be removing the strips temporarily and placing it on the plastic container (as what was mentioned earlier) for clean keeping. You can wear it again after your shower.
- Wear the Strip as Much as Possible
Take note that for an effective acne scar removal of the silicone strip, always wear the strip as much as possible.
- Removing the Strip
A single strip is able to last on your skin from 3 days up to 2 weeks depending on how much you care for it and also depending on the location.
Once you remove the strip, you must leave an allowance of 2 to 3 days before putting a new strip. This will allow your skin to breathe well.
If you notice that your strip keeps on falling out, check the underlying skin as it may be irritated with the constant presence of the strip.
